What does the PTA do?

By joining the Flocktown Kossmann PTA, you become a member of the national PTA organization as well. The PTA is the largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation. The national PTA goal is:

To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and

empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

The FK PTA hopes to promote quality education, participation in the arts, and community involvement. Most importantly, we plan to work with the school and families to create a healthy and enriching environment in which our children will learn and grow.

Membership dues, donations and fundraising events are so important to what the PTA does.  And, with the help of all of our volunteers, the FK PTA is able to sponsor and run several events.  To learn more, about these events, scroll down!  Remember to check back often as new events are always being added.

Enriching Programs Sponsored by our PTA:

Children’s Programs/Assemblies:  Several times throughout the year, the children have entertaining and educational school wide assemblies that aim to enrich their education and growth.  This year the F-K PTA has budgeted $15,000 on these programs.  If your child comes home talking about an author, magician, play, reptile man, or great assembly, it was most likely a PTA sponsored event!

Family Programs:  During the school year, the PTA hosts events for the entire family.  These events are for all Flocktown-Kossmann families at little or no cost. This year some of the events include: Trunk or Treat, Glow Bowling, Bingo Night, and Flocktown Talent Showcase.

Services:  In addition to assemblies and author visits, the PTA offers other services such as Reflections in the Arts, Children’s Holiday Shoppe, The Flocktown School Store, and the Yearbook.  These events are NOT fundraisers.  The PTA does not try to earn a profit on them.  The PTA is happy to organize and run the events for the children.

Community Outreach: Among other drives, teacher grants have been a tremendous part of the PTA's outreach.  This year, the PTA plans to award up to $4,000 to the Board of Education for use in the purchase of various items, such as document cameras, response systems, e-books, etc. to be used in the classrooms.  The PTA raised the funds to build the Kossmann pavilion and supplemented funds to complete the purchase of the Flocktown playground.

Fundraising Events:  Everyone knows about fundraising, but we’d like to emphasize that fundraising, along with our wonderful volunteers, makes EVERYTHING possible.

How Does the PTA Communicate to Me?

Eblasts:  Our PTA secretary will send out an email on the 1st & 15th of each month to all Flocktown-Kossmann families.  The eblasts will include any SignUp Genius links for upcoming events that need volunteers.  A compiled list of upcoming PTA events and any important info from Committee Chairs will also be included.

FK PTA Facebook Page:  If you are a PTA member go to our page and request to be added as a friend.  You will see reminders, information, and news on an as needed basis.  Don't miss out on this great tool to improve communication!

FLYERS via Backpack:  Due to the schools paper-light policy, paper flyers are only allowed if there is a tear off form at the bottom of the page that requires permission/RSVP or a check to be sent through the backpacks. Electronic flyers and payment links will be posted to the website.
